Hmm

High point or low point of my blogging career: updating at a mcdonalds?

Well I couldn't find any new music of interest today, but I've been in such a electronic/remix/cover mood so I'll post some that I'm listening to currently.

Jimmy (M.I.A. cover) :: Of Montreal
Best I Ever Had (DIGIRAATII REMIXX) :: Drake
Walking On A Dream (Kids At The Bar Remix) :: Empire Of The Sun
Tron Legacy Theme :: Daft Punk
Color In Your Cheeks (Iowa City Trance Mix) :: The Mountain Goats

Get It

My boyfriend Drake has just announced that his second single is going to be "Successful" featuring Trey Songz & Lil Wayne. It's a pretty slow song and I don't picture it doing anywhere near as well as "Best I Ever Had" but it's still a great song. We're crossing our fingers for "The Winner" or "Ignant Shit" featuring Lil Wayne to be his third single, definitely my favorites of his.

Reclaiming her throne?

Queen Latifah coming back to the rap game.

This girl is ready to take over. Successful actress and CoverGirl model, Queen Latifah is ready to take her spot as the Queen of Rap. Beginning her career in rap over 20 years ago, The Queen is prepping her return to the scene. Her album "Persona" is expected to hit stores August 25th, and we got a sneak peek at 3 of the songs coming off the LP. Some of you may have heard her on Lady Gaga's PokerFace remix, which I thought was wonderful. The CD is featuring appearance by Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, and more.
I don't see this being a massive hit for Queen La, however it is a solid effort. At age 39, she definitely still has a powerful voice and good style to add to the rap game right now.
Also, be sure to check out the standout RnB track Cue the Rain. It's definitely the business right now.

She's still alive?

Do people honestly care about Eve still? Here's her flop of a first single off her upcoming album (We do like the thought of bitches up in the club though).

2PartsBossy is currently jamming to...

Here's our current top 10 that we're listening to. We've got a bit of a variety this week ranging from Modest Mouse to Rihanna, and we also love the Coldplay sample of "Viva La Vida" that Drake did in his song!

Modest Mouse

The new Modest Mouse EP drops tomorrow! It contains songs not released on Good News For People Who Love Bad News and We Were Dead Before This Ship Even Sank. We wish a couple of these would have released on the albums because we really like them, download the CD here!

Definitely Just a Party of One...

Oh, Aubrey. Any of you who have followed Making the Band, Danity Kane, Playboy, or if you read Desperate-For-Attention Weekly, you know all about this media whore, Aubrey O'Day. The former Danity Kane member just released her new song "Party All the Time" (yes, it IS a cover of the Eddie Murphy song!). Apparently, it's for her new TV show(?). Either way, this girl - and song - is a complete hot mess. Nothing else can describe it.
I'm unable to distinguish if she purposely wants this song to make us think about her in a lesbonic relationship (cuz being a fesbian is in, ya'll!) or if she was just too stupid to change the words.

Hop on the link and let us know what you think of this mess. We did warn ya'll in advance, tho

Party all the Time :: Aubrey O'Day

SMH @ the ending line of this "song". Definite LOLZ worthy.

New Album!

One of my personal favorite bands, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, has announced that they will be releasing their second album in October! The album will be titled Don't Say We Didn't Warn You and is said to have a sound similar to their first album. October can hurry up and get here already! Check out some of their songs off their old album to see if you'll be as excited as I am for this album. Most of you should know "We Are Rockstars", it was the theme song for the newest Fast and the Furious movie and was played during the previews for the movie.

Introducing....

Tinchy Stryder

We've really been on that UK shiz lately, so here's another artists from across the pond that you're sure to love. Tinchy Stryder brings his Ghanaian origin and fuses it with his British grime style of music to create a unique sound that is guaranteed to light up the dance floors. He's already scored two Top 10 Hits on the UK charts and his 2nd CD is set to release on August 17, with his new single "Never Leave You" featuring Sugababes star, Amelle, leaked today. I'm definitely checking for this dude. His stuff is mad impressive, I'm really digging it all.

Check out some of his joints down below:

Colby O'Donis

Colby O'Donis first single, "I Wanna Touch You", from his new album leaked! Why would this ever be the lead single off of his album? We predict a flop from this song once it releases. Hopefully the other tracks off the album are better than this one.

Introducing....

VV Brown

The UK is slowly taking over my iTunes as of late. We LOVE this chick. VV Brown is an up-and-coming singer from across the pond. She was formally a model and has done shoots with Vogue Magazine. Now, she's just released her first studio album, "Travelling Like the Light". Her current single, Shark in the Water (which is beyond amazing IMO) is bringing her name to the current music scene. Her combination of indie pop, electro-tech, and 1950's inspired music makes her an extremely great act with a very unique voice in the music industry.

Not only is her music wonderful, but we heard she recently denied Diddy's offer to sign with Bad Boy Records. Talented AND business smart!? LOVE LOVE this girl. Get it VV!

Here's some tracks by her. All hot, definitely the business right now.

New Boyz

Yeah the guys that brought you the hit (flop) "You're A Jerk" have their second single out now. New Boyz new single is called "Tie Me Down" and is featuring Ray J. It has an okay beat, but nothing too spectacular. They can drop off ANYTIME now!

Tony Tequila

Miss Shaki babay

Can we discuss the LOL that is Shakiras new music video?! Absolutely love the song and Shakira who looked hot as hell. But really, like was she having a dance battle with herself every time she danced in that black uni?(half?)(1/4th?)tard? She has definitely fallen into the pop star trend. Ugh first Jewel with intuition, and now this?! My little mind can't handle anymore upsets!

Check out the video here (the song was uploaded earlier this week for download):

Billboard Rankings

Let's have a look at the Billboard Hot 100's top songs of the week.

1. I Gotta Feeling :: The Black Eyed Peas
This song debuted on the Hot 100 a month ago at #2 and this marks it's fifth week in a row at the top spot. The Black Eyed Peas have taken over the charts this year, holding on to that coveted top spot since mid-April.
2. Best I Ever Had :: Drake
Almost there, Drake! Hopefully our boy will be able to score a #1 single within the next few weeks. Here's to the BEP falling off before people get sick of Best I Ever Had.
3. Knock You Down :: Keri Hilson ft. Kanye West & Ne-Yo
Our girl, Miss Keri Baby, has been flipping between spots 3&4 for the past month or so. By far her most successful song (Turnin Me On peaked @ 15), we're not sure if MKB will get any higher. Her and Drake need to team up and take the greedy BEP bitches the fuck out, if you ask me. Kiking
4. You Belong With Me :: Taylor Swift
Fell one spot from last week. Although we love Tay-ho, we see this continuing to fall
5. Use Somebody :: Kings of Leon
Up six spots from #11. This new band is definitely gaining some fans.
6. Fire Burning :: Sean Kingston
7. Boom Boom Pow :: Black Eyed Peas
8. LoveGame :: Lady GaGa
9. Waking Up in Vegas :: Katy Perry
10. Battlefield :: Jordin Sparks

In other news, Jason Mraz is STILL holding onto the charts with "I'm Yours", on its 67th week, still holding a strong spot of 34. This is definitely a record, and it doesnt seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Mary J. Blige's new song (which I'm loving) "The One" ft. Drake debuted @ #63 this week. Beyonce's Sweet Dreams debuted @ #97.

Watch out 4dem Wednesday...

Watch out for...Leighton Meester

Some of you may know her as Blair Waldorf, but Leighton is definitely about to make her mark on the music scene. With a recent feature on Cobra Starship's hit "Good Girls Go Bad" which is doing really well on the charts. Well, Miss Meester is preparing a CD of her own, with a planned Fall release. 2PartsBossy has been able to hear some of her songs, and we must say - we love, love love thus far. From the poppy dance hits Body Control & Bad Girl, to the soulful cover of Bette Davis Eyes, this girl is sure to go places. She definitely has two fans in us, and we'll defnitely be watching out for her debut album over the next few months. Be sure to check below to hear some of her songs. Definite download worthy; they're hott!

Solander

Solander is a band from Sweden who has no publicity yet, but we think they sound like someone whom we'd expect to hear on Grey's Anatomy or some kind of television drama. They have a sound similar to Broken Social Scene or a similar type of mellow band. We hope to hear some more music from them soon.

Looking For Gold :: Solander

I'm Known For Running My Mouth

Stumbled across this remix of Gifted by N.A.S.A. (feat. Kanye West, Santogold, and Lykke Li) that I liked. If you haven't heard of them before, they have tons of collaborations with some big names in music.

Gifted (The Aston Shuffle Remix) :: N.A.S.A. (ft. Kanye West, Santogold, and Lykke Li)

Here's the original version of the song, and my other favorite N.A.S.A. song.

New Artist Spotlight

Introducing new up-and-coming artist, Pixie Lott! This UK artist has achieved major success across the pond, landing a #1 hit with her lead single "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)". Her debut album, Turn It Up, is scheduled to release in September and is currently preparing the release of her second single, said to be "Boys and Girls".
We at 2PartsBossy welcome Pixie Lott with open arms. Her soulful voice and funky music are definitely appealing to our ears. Amy Winehouse has left a void with her recent departure from the music scene, and we predict Pixie Lott has what it takes to fill it. Peep some of her standout tracks below, including 2 cover songs which we absolutely love! We'll definitely be tuning in when her album drops.

Run, Rabbit, Run

After a few years of no new music, indie folk artist Sufjan Stevens has announced that his new album Run, Rabbit, Run will be released on October 6, 2009! The album will be a remix album based off of his 2001 electronica album Enjoy Your Rabbit. Although Enjoy Your Rabbit was an all instrumental album, we're hoping that Sufjan will be singing on his new tracks.

Gold Digger

The Dolly Rockers are a British pop group gaining tons of publicity in the UK. They describe their sound as being similar to the Spice Girls. We see it and we like their first single "Gold Digger". If you like "Gold Digger" check out their Myspace for more music. (Don't forget to add 2partsbossy on Myspace too!)

Get Wild

Although the DJ's album Get Wild was released in April, tracks are finally starting to hit the dance charts. The lead single "She Came Along (feat Kid Cudi)" samples Patsy Cline's "Strange" and is a great song for the club. It has a long introduction but the song is worth that wait.

Heidi Montag Not Competing in Miss Universe 2009

We love Heidi, so we were excited to hear the announcement earlier this week that Heidi Montag would be performing at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant. She will be performing her song "Turn Ya Head" off of her debut album Unleashed which will be released on September 23, 2009. She will be on stage during the National Costume Presentation portion of the pageant. She will be performing alongside prominent names in the music industry such as Flo Rida and Kelly Rowland.

The song "Turn Ya Head" is not the strongest track off of her album, but with an estimated one billion viewers, the catchy lyrics and upbeat tempo could get this track on the charts. This performance could either make or break Heidi's career depending on how well she performs the song.

If you watched I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, you saw Janice Dickinson cringe when she heard Heidi's voice. The song definitely has a massive amount of voice editing on it so we don't know how this will sound live (if she even will sing).

Miss Universe 2009 will be on August 23 on NBC at 9:00PM EST. We're highly anticipating the performance and her debut album and hoping that she will have a quality production with positive feedback. Check out our two favorite Heidi songs below, "Look How I'm Doin'" and "Overdosin'".

Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye (to your career)

Releasing tomorrow (Jul 28) is Kristinia Debarge's debut album "Exposed". Her first single, "Goodbye" which samples the 1969 hit has been doing fairly well on the charts, peaking at #15 so far. With her CD coming out, Debarge is on her hustle, already preparing the release of her second single, "Sabotage". Sabotage, although failing to capture the same appeal as Goodbye does, it could do decently for her. It's a definite upbeat summer jawn, that could get some airplay on summer radio & the dance charts. Here's to hoping this chick won't fall off, although we at 2PartsBossy think that's a likely possibility.

Goin' Solo...

Kimberly Wyatt, of The Pussycat Dolls, just announced that she has plans to embark on a solo career. Wyatt is known for lifting her leg in just about every PCD video...and really, nothing more. SMH, hasn't she learned anything from Nicole's "career" as a solo artist. That shizz flopped harder than my 2for$5 Old Navy shoes.
Wyatt maintains that PCD will still be together, and will begin working on a third album soon. With how lackluster Doll Domination was, 2PartsBossy says to hang it up. These dolls just got moved to the Toys R Us clearance rack.

Run This Town :: Jay-Z ft. Rihanna & Kanye West

Music blogs have been going crazy over the past couple days with the release of Jay's new joint, Run This Town, which features your girl Miss Fenty and your boy 'Ye - and it's an absolute banger. The beat goes hard from the beginning, with RiRi lending her signature vocals. Jay & Kanye go hard on their verses, making this sure to be a hit. This song is the lead single off Jay's long-anticipated "The Blueprint 3" which will hit stores Sept. 11. Be sure to check here BEFORE the release when 2PartsBossy gives it to you a week prior.
This song is fire and my absolute favorite of the moment. A MUST download, for its 100%Bossy

Every Monday, we'll post the new CD's soon to be released that coming week, along with a review and official 2PartsBossy rating.

Ashley Tisdale - Guilty Pleasure

Ashley Tisdale's sophomore album Guilty Pleasure drops tomorrow, July 28th . Her overall sound has changed drastically since her first album from pop to a more rock sound. Her lead single "It's Alright, It's OK" was released in April and sounded like something that would have come off of her first album. This song along with a few others such as "Hair" still sound like something that Ashley should have left in the halls of "East High".
On a more positive note, 2PartsBossy anticipates that the songs "Hot Mess", "Acting Out", and "Overrated" will all perform well on the charts, if released as singles ("It's Alright, It's OK is the only single that has been announced thus far). These three hot tracks have a rock feel and sound similar to something that we would hear from Katy Perry or The Veronicas.
"Hot Mess" wins 2PartsBossy's vote for the hottest track on the album. This song is a big step away from her image as only a Disney star with suggestive lyrics like "you wake up in your bra and your make-up". The racy lyrics and catchy beat of the song will make this song a club favorite and could land it in a top spot on the Billboard Top 100. We give this song 5 parts bossy out of 5 since this song is the perfect example of what music Ashley wants to be singing, and what the fans want to hear.
Although the album has a few hot tracks on it, we don't see the album itself making it very high on the charts. We give Guilty Pleasure 3 parts bossy out of 5 due to the lack of rock that she was trying to portray on this album. We feel that her next album will have a bold rock sound and will do much better.

2PartsBossy rating :: 3/5
We love :: Hott Mess, Acting Out, Overrated
